Allergy Services in Fulshear & Katy

We Can Help with Coughing, Wheezing, & Breathing Difficulties

Do you experience allergies or asthma? Symptoms like sinus pain, sore through, shortness of breath, and others may make life feel downright unbearable at times. Allergy treatment depends on your symptom severity and health history, but our on-site allergy doctors in Fulshear and Katy can help you with a variety of treatments designed to bring quick relief. Our staff is also qualified to provide pediatric urgent care services to treat allergic reactions for patients 6 months and older.

Allergy Skin Testing

Preferred Urgent Care offers allergy tests that are simple and straightforward to help your doctor determine which substances cause your allergic reactions, such as pollen, dust, dander, insect stings, and so on. Understanding your allergy can help you prepare your body and know how to combat the symptoms when you inevitably face the allergen in the future. To perform an allergy test, the allergen will be gently applied to the skin and your doctor will wait to see if it causes a skin reaction like a rash or welt.

Allergy Immunotherapy

Your doctor may recommend allergy immunotherapy or allergy shots once your allergens are identified. These shots contain a very small amount of the offensive allergen and work to condition your body to react less severely to it, similarly to the way a vaccine works in building immunity. There are 2 phases of immunotherapy, called the buildup phase and the maintenance phase. These involve increasing the amounts of the allergen over the course of a period of time until you reach the maintenance phase once an effective therapeutic dose is reached.

What Patients Need to Know About Payment & Insurance for Allergy Testing

At Preferred Urgent Care, we want to maintain transparent billing so patients know what to expect. While most insurance pay for allergy testing and treatment, we usually won’t know until we file the claim. Patients are required for pay $100 for the allergy testing at the time of visit. If based on the result of the testing, the medical provider may recommend the patient for allergy treatment. At that point, our team will file a claim with the patient’s insurance. If the claim is approved and paid, patient will be notified of any co-pay (if applicable) and our clinic will order the allergy testing treatment. If the claim is denied, the $100 charged at the time of the visit is applied to the patients account and nothing else is required or owed by the patients. Self-pay patient interested in allergy testing and treatment pay $100 at the time of testing while treat could range from $850 to $1600 depending on the number of allergens we are treating for. As with the insured patient, the initial commitment for the allergy treatment services is $100.
