Vaccinations are important for every patient, whether they are children or adults. The type of vaccination recommended is different for each age group, but they are all very important in maintaining your health as well as the health of others. It is important to ensure that children and adults get vaccinated, which is why at Preferred Urgent Care, we provide and encourage vaccines.
Children should begin getting vaccines as soon as they are born, including the vaccine for hepatitis B. At the age of two months, they will get another hepatitis B vaccination as well as many other vaccines, such as:
– The IPV for Polio,
– The Hib for Influenza Type B
– The PCV for Pneumococcal conjugate
– The D TaP for Diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis
– The RV for rotavirus
At the age of 4 months, the second set of vaccinations will be administered and again at six months without the IPV vaccine. Your child will also receive booster shots and other vaccines throughout their life.
Adults will get slightly different vaccinations depending on their occupation, any medical conditions, and other factors. Adults should get a flu vaccine every year despite any differences, as these prevent the spread of the virus. Tdap boosters should be received every decade while HPV vaccines are recommended in early adulthood, between the ages of 19 and 26. Depending on your career role, you may need further vaccines.
If you plan on traveling the world, then you will need specialized vaccinations. This is true for both children and adults, and should only be done when you will be going out of the country. Traveling internationally gives you the chance to be exposed to viruses and bacteria that you are not exposed to in the United States. This means the body cannot fight them off as well as they would the flu or other viruses.
Vaccinations are highly important, so you should visit an urgent care near you and speak with a medical professional about the vaccines you may need.
